Nowra questions.
- Do you provide DVA Community Nursing in Nowra?
- Yes. We are a DVA contracted Community Nursing provider, DVA Provider 9728631A, caring for veterans across Nowra and the surrounding Shoalhaven, from Bomaderry to St Georges Basin.
- Can Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital refer directly to you?
- Yes. A treating doctor or discharge planner can send a written referral to referrals@abchs.com.au or use our online form. A hospital referral lasts six weeks, after which the GP sends a new one.
- How quickly can a nurse start after a hospital stay?
- We reply to every referral within 24 to 48 hours, then a Registered Nurse books your home assessment. When a discharge date is set, call 02 9387 3030 so we can plan visits around it.
- Which Nowra and Shoalhaven suburbs do you cover?
- Nowra, North Nowra, South Nowra, West Nowra, Bomaderry, Worrigee, Cambewarra, Terara, Shoalhaven Heads, Culburra Beach, Callala Bay, Huskisson, Vincentia, St Georges Basin and Sanctuary Point. If yours is not listed, call us.
- What home care services are available in Nowra?
- Through us: DVA Community Nursing, Veterans’ Home Care, Support at Home, private nursing, step down and respite care, nursing agency staff, and NDIS supports. All are led by Registered Nurses.
- How do I get Support at Home in Nowra?
- Call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 for an assessment. Once you are approved, ask for ABC Homes N Services as your provider and we arrange the rest with you.
- What will care cost me?
- DVA Community Nursing is free for eligible veterans. Support at Home clinical care has no contribution, and other services may carry one based on your means. Private nursing is quoted in writing. We confirm every cost before care starts.
- Can I switch to ABC Homes N Services from another provider?
- Yes. For Support at Home, your funding moves with you and there are no exit fees. For DVA Community Nursing, your GP sends us a new referral, which we help arrange. Either way, we handle the handover so your care does not stop.
- Can you care for both of us?
- Yes. We care for couples in the one home, under one coordinated plan, with the same team for you both.
For Shoalhaven GPs, hospitals and discharge teams.
Send referrals to referrals@abchs.com.au or use our online form. We confirm within 24 to 48 hours, and a Registered Nurse assesses every client at home before care begins.
